Emulator Atari ST - STEEM SSE (Steven Seagal Edition) wzbogacił się o jeszcze jedną wersję pliku wykonawczego. Obok wersji skompilowanej pod Borlandem C++ 6 (BCC) i Visual C++ 6, pojawiła się także skompilowana pod VisualC++ z poprawkami usprawniającymi kod wykonawczy. Heh... nie sądze aby posiadacze w miarę nowych komputerów narzekali na pracę Steema SSE w normalnej wersji, więc trochę ta wersja jest na "wyrost". Jednak warto ją odnotować. Brak innych zmian w kodzie, w stosunki do 3.5.1.

Steem, emulator ATARI ST, co prawda od wielu lat jest już nierozwijany, jednak dzięki udostępnieniu źródeł przez jego autorów (Anthony & Russell Hayward) pojawiają się ciągle nowe zmiany i poprawki w jego kodzie. Na bieżąco rozwijanym kodem tego emulatora jest STEEM SSE (Steven Seagal Edition), w którym znajdziemy np. poprawki, jakie usprawniają emulację ATARI ST, w drugim świetnym projekcie - HATARI. Nowa aktualizacja poprawia tryb emulacji na pełnym ekranie - na niektórych konfiguracjach aplikacja zawieszała się ze skutkiem śmiertelnym;)

Na bieżąco rozwijanym kodem tego emulatora jest STEEM SSE (Steven Seagal Edition), w którym znajdziemy np. poprawki, jakie usprawniają emulację ATARI ST, w drugim świetnym projekcie - HATARI. Dwa dni temu pojawiła się pierwsza wersja tej modyfikacji STEEM dla maszynek z linuksem na pokładzie, wersja pod windowsy, przynajmniej dla mnie bardziej interesująca pojawiła się prawie miesiąc temu, jednak, że naprawdę warto odnotować ten emulator, chętnie o nim wspominam.

Ukazał się już 5 numer Atari User a w nim: wywiad z Tedem Dabney'em, recenzje Painter & Arena Football [Atari Jaguar], Duranik Demo Cartridge [Atari Lynx] i Midnight Mutants [Atari7800], dla fanów A2600 w gazetce znajduje się link do specjalnej wersji 21Blue - black jacka lub po polsku gry w oczko, na tą konsolkę. Ze sprzętu pojawił się opis stacji dysków "Astra 2001" i SIO2USB - rozszerzenia pozwalającego podpiąc Atarkę do PC. Na tapecie wylądował także "Steem Engine" - emulator ATARI ST. Jak zwykle cena numeru to 3.95$, ciekawe czemu okładka numeru "5" jest w szarości:)

Kolejnym emulatorem 'dużego' Atari jest STEem v1.3. Co nowego dodano (i co poprawiono) znajdziecie poniżej: Bug fixes: - MIDI in. - Illegal instruction exceptions, thanks to Xavier Joubert (fixed MonST). - Small v1.2 keyboard bug that wasn't in v1.1 (fixed Hot Rubber). - IKBD mouse off bug (fixed Deeplair). - Minor blitter bug. New features: - Shortcuts - Assign any key, joystick button/direction, the middle mouse button or a combination to do various different actions including pressing an ST key, - starting/stopping the emulator and fast forward. Easily create different set ups for different games. - Always on top.

EmuTOS is a Free operating system for computers based on Motorola 68000 or ColdFire microprocessors. It features functionality similar to TOS, which powered the Atari ST and its successors between 1985 and 1994. EmuTOS can run on real hardware, either as ROM replacement or from floppy. Of course, it also runs happily on any Atari emulator such as ARAnyM, Hatari, or Steem SSE. EmuTOS is Free Software, so it is better than TOS in several ways: It can be freely used and redistributed with emulators, in respect of the GPL licence. This way, users can run legacy third-party software on emulators without requiring copyrighted Atari ROMs, thereby avoiding legal issues. It can be improved, to support more features and more hardware than Atari TOS. It is actively developed and supported.
