Fceux jest próbą syntezy mutacji multiplatformowego emulatora NINTENDO 8 (famicon) - FCE ULTRA, który z biegiem prac nad nim dorobił się sporej ilości mutacji. Próbuje połączyć wszystkie mechanizmy z FCE Ultra, FCEU rerecording, FCEUXD, FCEUXDSP, i FCEU-mm, TAS, TAS+ (wersja CaH4e3 - MM, którą autor Demula wzbogaca emulację NES'a o kolejne mappery obsługujące nowe dumpy).
Oficjalna pełna wersja tego emulatora to 2.4.1a z czerwca tego roku (SVN1984).
Poniższa wersja to deweloperska ze źródła w repozytorium FCEUX (kompilacja 32 bitowa, VC 2010).
