Opis filmu
The first video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. First of all, in some Parts of this walkthrough, I have to spend some time collecting points to upgrade my creatures to prepare for stronger enemies (the game is nearly impossible otherwise). A really original game about evolution, but full of problems. Apart from the fact that it doesn't represent evolution accurately (I don't think it's possible in a game, especially not in Spore), collision detection is poor, you have next to no recovery time when you get hit and enemies will kill you too quickly. Most Bosses are just near impossible without good practice and evolution and even luck. It's a shame though, because the idea of the game is really original once again. It's playable. Through the videos, I might make some clarification about which part of the theory of evolution as it is currently described is not accurately represented. Don't forget, if you have requests like for another video game walkthrough or something, just ask here or on my channel or even by sending me a message and if I can make it, there are good chances that I will.
The second video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. Little fishy here is still in the evolution process. Something that the game adds here to that process is showing that natural selection does not only stand for "being the strongest" (best fitted to your environment is a better term), but also being able to survive environmental hazards like submarine volcanoes, in this instance, which can change the course of evolution. Luck is not the only thing in play, but it's part of the process. One can be the best fitted for a time and still die of an unpredicted change in the environment. For example, let's say that you're a big ferocious dinosaur ruling over small life forms, then suddenly a giant meteorite impacts the Earth, you stand a higher risk of dying than the smaller creatures. They will survive and become the next big thing in the game of evolution, while you're "game over". In fact, you can squat a fruit fly easily, but it takes 60+ times more absorbed doses of radiation to kill them than you.
The third video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. An age ends, leaving place to a new world filled with oxygen (actually, fishes "breathe" oxygen too, they just get it from H2O). The thing that happens when the fish instantly becomes an amphibian, that's not an accurate representation of evolution at all (but once again, it's a game). A fish can't give birth to a frog for example. This would occur through progressive mutation through many generations. Imagine a fish that can, through mutation, survive outside water 1 more second than other fishes. Imagine this 1 second is required for survival in this environment, then only fishes with this mutated ability (or better) would survive and reproduce. Among their babies, some would get the ability (with potential mutation in their genes, for better, or worse, in which case they would probably not survive). Now imagine that this goes on for millions of years; progressively that older race of fishes gets wiped out and you get a species that can potentially live outside water as the survivor. Maybe they didn't get completely wiped out; some fishes might've developed another way to survive in the environment without needing to breathe longer outside of water so they could stay fishes (through different mutations) or some other fishes developed in another environment that was suited to them as they were, continuing their lives as normal. So at the same time, you get amphibians and new types of fishes that continue to evolve independently. So you get many different species after a while, a long while, because of different requirements and mutations. Note that I don't claim to know what were the conditions in which they evolved or what would be the cause of having to live outside water. I'm referring to a potential situation. I'm not a biologist and I don't claim to be particularly knowledgeable about evolution apart from the basics I learned. There might be mistakes in my explanations, but not as far as I know.
The fourth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. Don't you think it's weird they mixed the theory of evolution with sun worship and Gaia from Greek mythology? Anyway, by the end of this video, my amphibian thingy almost looks like a mini dinosaur from the various parts I choose. Another thing about evolution, a creature doesn't choose the mutations that occur at will (and as I said, you don't evolve at all during your life, only your descendants will develop changes from the original, you). They occur randomly.
The fifth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. Damn, this Boss can't stand being laughed at? He will never get through life if he can't accept a little joke here and there. Oh well, I guess he won't need to adapt that much since he's now in my amphibian stomach.
The sixth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. Massive training in this Part, but I become the ultimate amphibian because I kill a giant bee (who claims I killed her husband, I didn't know the bee community has such a complex structure)! OK, no such statement is accurate for evolution, which is not a force with a particular goal and there are no "ultimates", just better suited. Anyway, another era ends, leaving place to the age of dinosaurs. Who doesn't like dinosaurs? Well, except anyone who would have to face one.
The seventh video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. Once again, massive training, but this time it's to train my new dinosaur body! This game is merciless for those who don't evolve. Strangely much less strong than my "ultimate amphibian". No problem, for training I can use the green crystal to revert temporarily to a previous life form. (It should be obvious that this is not part of the real theory of evolution either, not only are there no magic crystals, but life forms tend to become more and more complex with time, not the contrary.)
The eighth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. I hate to post yet another video with that much training, but this game is really "survival of the fittest". About the rumor going on in the game that a new body with new uniques capacities can be acquired, they're referring to becoming a bird or some kind of flying dinosaur at first (of course, this did not happen via magic on Mt. Brave in real life). Fossil records seem to indicate that at some point, bipedal dinosaurs developped the ability to fly and much later, this gave place to a branch of various flying life forms that we know as the birds. Much later, Hitchcock made a movie about it. Well, not about evolution, I mean The Birds.
The ninth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. I'm sorry, but most of this video is spent fighting a giant frog creature. I just couldn't find a way to beat it rapidly (other than with better jaws I guess, which I would lose soon along with my other evolution traits after changing voluntarily into a flying creature in the next Part) and the way the battle is made, you can constantly gain points by prolonging the fight, so I took the opportunity. Oh well, at least it's an epic fight! Enjoy the Boss music and tune in for the next parts (always weird to say that on YouTube).
The tenth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. Mt. Brave transforms my dinosaur, giving it the capacity to fly. Be sure to have a strong enough tail or something like that to be able to jump high enough to get to the top of the mountain. It's an entirely optional evolution, you can go through the age of dinosaurs without learning to fly (and through the whole game for that matter). Taking this step will reset your evolution to a basic flying creature. You have to upgrade your jaws and everything once again. You also lose your points, which might suggest using lots of them before the change is good, but think about the time wasted collecting them and then losing all your evolutions at some point later (I did make that mistake a bit). The best is to try to evolve just enough to get through the mountain. A change like that, losing all your advantages suddenly because you transform into a new species, wouldn't be part of the theory of evolution. At least not in this form. Changing your species also wouldn't happen suddenly, but with slight changes that result in massive changes over time, making the creature much different from its ancestor.
The eleventh video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. Endings in this game are somewhat distanced from one another and they depend entirely on your answer to a question asked automatically at some point in the game, nothing major here. There is one secret ending I could say, but it comes later, for now let's see how smart it would be to decide to stop evolving as a dinosaur (of course, in real life, evolving or not is not a matter of choice like that).
The twelfth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. You can't help but feel sad for the dinosaurs, but they proved to be total jerks. My punishment would have been less severe if I was the one making it (I guess it's the sun's decision in this game), but it opened the world to mammals (so that's great). Which is the age we're entering in, in the game.
The thirteenth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. Ice Age, I liked that movie! OK, this is not the same here. Another name for this time period could be Age of the Mammals. I smell humans coming (theoretically, I could become one right now with enough points, but I decided to wait for later when the game makes it entirely obvious that it's possible to become a human).
The fourteenth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. You know, I was a dinosaur once. That's what this little mouse thingy (becomes a horse thingy by the end of this video) must be saying. Lots of training in this Part, but it's necessary. I love how after upgrading the jaws, my "mouse" can easily kill much bigger creatures. Beware of rats! Once again, it's really something strange that the game does. The way Gaia talks to you (not that she does in this Part), it would seem that after all these millions of years and drastically different creatures, it's always the same consciousness that's embedded in that evolving body.
The fifteenth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. Did you know that the Yeti fears mammoths? No? Me neither. I didn't even know any Yeti existed. I'm surprised they didn't throw in the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot and aliens. Oh wait, they did put alien creatures in the game. Seriously, all kinds of crazy stuff has yet to be seen.
The sixteenth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. So that Ending, is it supposed to be bad? I mean, did I make the evil choice? It's somewhat ambiguous the way the Bird-Man leader talks, but I think he just means rule the world in a metaphorical way, not as tyrants. The drawing you see at the end is based on the Nazca Lines drawing of a deformed or stylized hummingbird. You can see the real deal here: http://gosouthamerica.about.com/od/nazcalines/ig/Nazca-Lines/Hummingbird--Nazca-Lines-2.htm
To learn more about the mystery of the Nazca Lines (geoglyphs from the Naza Desert of Peru), check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazca_Lines
Just to clear something up, I'm not a conspiracy theorist who believes aliens did it. I think there's a rational natural explanation for everything, including things we don't know or can't explain yet. For the unexplained, I'll just answer "I don't know", instead of sticking non-answers like "aliens did it". Do I believe they might exist? Yeah sure, keyword being MIGHT here. If I get good evidence that they do or if I unambiguously see them, I'll believe it.
The seventeenth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. When I beat the daddy Yeti and the little kid with teary eyes passed by, I was like "Oh, come on!" When I beat the mommy Yeti and the same thing happened, I was like "Damn! What the hell Game? Why are you doing this to me!? What kind of maniac are you trying to say I am?" Seriously, it's really funny when that happens, it's like the game is making fun of you, and I didn't expect it. But half of the time, I'm wondering at some point in the game "Am i doing the right thing?" It's so ambiguous on its morals.
The eighteenth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. I am a man! At least, I become an early form of what will evolve into a man later. That's not something the game does automatically for you, and not a necessary step. You can do this as soon as Chapter 4, assuming you have enough points. Get the Cat Jaw and Rabbit Body. Then you can get the Ramothecus Body which will transform you into a monkey. This is irreversible, the only thing you can do after that is select the "Evolve further" option a couple of times until you become a caveman with an axe. Then you reached the final possible evolution of the game (apart from going back and forth between increasing and decreasing your body size). Note that none of what the game does at this point (like my creature instantly becoming an ape) is an accurate representation of the theory of evolution.
The nineteenth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. And now I become the ultimate man or ultimate caveman, at least ultimate evolution in this game. But that's not the important thing, what's important is that I find the "secret" Ending. Not so secret, but you have to search for it, because it's hidden in the sky instead of being a mere choice. What is in this secret Ending (if you call that an Ending)? The Dino People, need I say more?
The twentieth video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. You know what I like? When a creature talks to you, telling their sad story or how good they are, and the next thing you're allowed to do is exterminate the remaining members of their species. Also, what is it with the bees in this game? If you want to know how I teleported, this is really simple. Stand between the stone pillars and press A.
The twenty-first video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. Meet the Rogons, some kind of sentient fish people who ride sharks and have guns. I think by this time in the game development, the shrooms' effects had begun to kick in. Once again, another Ending depending on a choice and even though we get to be tyrans under the sea, it doesn't turn out well.
The twenty-second video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. The story in this game, from the beginning has always been a bit confusing, but I know the ultimate goal is to get in Eden with Gaia. Now, keep in mind that Gaia is Greek Mythology and Eden is Christian (Jewish?). I have no idea how this passed through Nintendo of America's censorship at the time (which was supposed to censor all traces of religion among other things). Anyway, that Boss Cro-Maine is hard, but only if you let him hit you. It's actually pretty easy to avoid all his attacks or keep him from attacking, do the same as I did.
The twenty-third video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. This is pretty much it. After fighting my way through the cave in the last video, now I meet Bolbox (I have no freakin' idea what he is and how he evolved like that). This video is spent fighting him (we don't really fight him all that much, you'll see what I mean) and the next is the Ending. While fighting Bolbox, evolving is a nearly necessary step to heal, because of how the game is made. Since my only evolution options were to decrease and increase my size, prepare for something really ridiculous and unrealistic.
The twenty-fourth and final video in a walkthrough requested by XanderMisfit. Kinda the Ending you can expect, but something seems rushed about it. Don't forget, if you have requests like for another video game walkthrough or something, just ask here or on my channel or even by sending me a message and if I can make it, there are good chances that I will.
