This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see http://tasvideos.org/3840M.html. TAS originally published on 2018-12-08.
Ecco: The Tides of Time (1994) is the sequel to Ecco the Dolphin (http://tasvideos.org/453M.html). It is harder than the original, and continues its bizarre science fiction plotline. You control Ecco the dolphin, navigating the waters, circumnavigating the time-stream, saving lost DNA nucleotide pairs, and finding key crystals, schools of fish and pockets of air deep down in submarine caves.
Ecco is capable of moving at very high speed but has little in the way of brakes. Turning corners without smashing into walls is tricky to say the least.
Upthorn improves his previous previous record (http://tasvideos.org/1180M.html) by 11:12.06 (40,272 Frames @59.922751013551 FPS) minutes. See the author comments for elaborate explanations of how this was achieved. As a bonus, Upthorn has created an extra encode (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cj7qR1pqQwc) that displays the TAS environment he designed for this run.
