Robocop 3, Developed by Probe Software and published by Ocean in 1992

“SPLATTERPUNKS and ROBOTIC NINJAS are just two of the many deadly adversaries whose aim is to defeat Robocop. Select the right weapon at the right time and you can become more than a match for the enemy. Repair your battered armour, strap on the JET PACK, and confront the lethal ED 209”

After the disaster that was Robocop 2 on the C64, Probe Software steps in to make sure the third and the last game restores Robocops good name on the 64. While not as good as the first game the third game is a good effort. If you can stand the difficulty level that is!!!

The first level it self can be very challenging as the targets just seemingly appear at random, sometimes in packs and chip away at you almost instantly. Very much like Operation Thunderbolt where they attack you before they have even fully scrolled onto the screen as opposed to the well managed and predictable enemy appearances in Operation Wolf. You must perform headshots to Arrest/Kill? The target adding to the challenge. While there is information at the top telling you where the next target is, its usefulness is less than useful when you screen is filling up with enemy that are all shooting at you. The level goes on a long while, although im sure there is a way to make it go a little quicker as it had in my non recording runs. There are powerups to collect in the form of Repair points but these can only be used at the end of a level.

At the end of each level, you get to repair Robocop with any Repair points collected. The result is how much energy you will take into the next level. Level 2 onwards the game gets …. a little easier. It;s easy to position yourself in a way that you can hit the enemy but they can't hit you. There are some issues when the game scrolls along yet somehow pushed you back. This can be deadly if you are attempting to jump platforms. There are also weapon powerups now. The P icon will upgrade your weapon to a faster fire automatic and then a three way fire. You can also collect laser, flame thrower and rocket launcher weapons for dealing heavy damage. I save these for the Ninja and Ed209 bosses.

The game is quite short overall with only five levels. But the game will certainly test you. The final level most of all as you deal with 4 ninjas and an ED-209. I tried to save myRepair points just for this level to make sure I was at 100% entering it.
