My love of typography originated in the 80′s with the golden years of 8-bit home computing and their 8×8 pixel monospaced fonts on low-resolution displays. It's been almost ten whole years since the original version of Press Start came out (it's been that long?), and I thought that it was worth a complete revamp. And so... that's exactly what I've done. This font is based on the fonts from a number of classic Namco arcade games, as immortalized in the Namco '70s-'80s Arcade Videogames Font Museum. Mija właśnie dziesięć lat od upadku Spółdzielni Bajtek i czasopisma Top Secret. Wydawnictwa, którego mój rozmówca był wieloletnim współpracownikiem oraz pisma, którego był przez ponad cztery lata redaktorem naczelnym (drugim i ostatnim).
Marcin Borkowski w 1986 roku (czyli również obchodzimy okrągłą rocznicę) stworzył grę tekstowo-przygodową na komputer ZX Spectrum zatytułowaną Puszka Pandory. Była to - prawdopodobnie - pierwsza gra komputerowa z prawdziwego zdarzenia stworzona i wydana w naszym kraju.
W 1988 roku rozpoczął współpracę z miesięcznikiem Bajtek, a na początku 1990 roku został szefem nowo utworzonego Klanu IBM-a w tym piśmie. W tym samym czasie, w wyniku likwidacji Robotniczej Spółdzielni Wydawniczej Prasa-Książka-Ruch, redakcja Bajtka założyła własną spółdzielnię i rozpoczęła wydawanie kolejnych tytułów, m.in. magazynu o grach komputerowych Top Secret.

Over the years, I have been fascinated by the history of the various machines that have battled for our living rooms. Each machine has had its strengths and weaknesses, and as a programmer, I’m amazed by some of the ways developers have harnessed the power of consoles and pushed them to their limits resulting is some marvelous games. I usually try to emphasize that gameplay is more important that graphical quality. However, with this series, I thought it would be interesting to take a look at games that were the most demanding when it came to a console’s limited system resources.
