Commodore LCD was Commodore's plan to release a portable, battery powered computer with really good built-in softwares. We would call that "notebook" currently, I don't know how it would have been named though. Unfortunately the project had been canceled, only 2-5 fully assembled machines exist (according to various sources - it seems there are two units we can know their owners for sure). This site may give you more hints about the machine and its story though.

The Internet Archive Console Living Room harkens back to the revolution of the change in the hearth of the home, when the fireplace and later television were transformed by gaming consoles into a center of videogame entertainment. Connected via strange adapters and relying on the television's speaker to put out beeps and boops, these games were resplendent with simple graphics and simpler rules. The home console market is credited with slowly shifting attention from the arcade craze of the early 1980s and causing arcades to shrink in popularity, leaving a small percentage of what once were many. Through use of the JSMESS emulator system, which allows direct access to these programs in your browser with no additional plugins or settings, these games can be enjoyed again. Simply click on the screenshot or "Emulate This" button for each individual cartridge, and on modern browsers the games will just start to run. As nostalgia, a teaching tool, or just plain fun, you'll find hundreds of the games that started a billion-dollar industry. These games are best enjoyed in an up to date version of a modern browser. Currently, there is no sound in the games, although that feature will be added soon. Please read carefully regarding key mappings of the games and programs, to use them in your browser.

So all hail the Mighty Speccy! A very modest, unpretentious little machine that, despite its many shortcomings, allowed tens of thousands of people like me, in the nascent years of our Information Age, to discover the fun in computers. Here you'll find the all-time favourites from my own mis-spent youth and, trust me, young Sabri had spent many a night hunched over a steaming hot Speccy well into the wee hours of the day with each and every one of these. Most are quite esoteric military strategy and simulation games rather than the arcade and adventure games usually associated with the Speccy, so you're bound to find something different and unusual. I enjoyed these then and you can enjoy them now - thanks to the magic of Jan Bobrowski's Java-based ZX Spectrum emulator, Qaop. Yes, you can play these games right this very minute on your PC via this website, over an Internet connection!

I have developed a ZX Spectrum emulator Dart. ZX Spectrum was one of the most popular computers in the eighties, and this year is met since its inception thirty. Dart is a new programming language being developed by Google. I called zx-dart to the project and I've released as open source. The native code version runs on Dart Dartium, which is a version of Chrome that includes the Dart VM. Although the performance is terrible, not even enough for a frame per second. Keep in mind that Dart is still in development, improvements have to go slowly reaching, besides the official specification of the language changes every few weeks, so code written today may not work tomorrow. Dart comes with a tool called (currently) that converts dart2js Dart code to JavaScript, so that you can run directly in Chrome without Dart VM. Fortunately this version reaches 20 FPS on my machine and the emulator is left to prove, but for a realistic simulation of a Spectrum should be at least 50 FPS. I implemented the emulator is based on JSpeccy. Performs basic emulation of a Spectrum 48K, loaded and run ROM BASIC. It lacks many basic features such as sound generation and the ability to upload snapshots for example. But today there are many fairly complete emulators for almost any platform, so not worth complicating the development to reinvent the wheel. Maybe a port to Dart some existing emulator written in JavaScript might be a better option.
