The 3dfx Chipset does *NOT* do 24 or 32bit rendering... AT ALL. This means that using Direct3D acceleration with these cards is only possible with 16bits!
* If you set your desktop to 24 or 32 bit and are trying to run bleem! in a window with 3D Hardware, it won't work.
* If you set your bleem! FullScreen settings to use a 24- or 32-bit resolution with 3D Hardware, it won't work.
PLEASE make sure that you set your desktop and FullScreen settings to use 16-bit if you are using a Voodoo card for 3D acceleration!Only Voodoo Banshee and Voodoo 3 are able to run D3D in Windowed Mode.
With only 4 megs of VRAM most games will run, but textures may be missing. It is suggested that you note run it higher than 640x480.
CONFIG TIP : check all options except for anti-aliasing and paletted textures.

ATI RAGE : New Drivers :: CONFIG TIP : Have you tried checking everything except for anti-aliasing and managed textures -- The solution to this problem is usually rather simple (I think this is called "Video Throttling"). Unfortunately, the fix is often rather hard to find. I can only comment about ATI Rage Pro based systems. To force cards based on this chipset (using ATI drivers) to check if the card is ready for data, add the following two lines to your SYSTEM.INI file (or add to the [display] section if it already exists):
[display]
busthrottle=1
