MaLa jest frontendem dla Mame, jednak dzięki wtyczkom, można go skonfigurować dla innych emulatorów. Jest też świetnym rozwiązaniem dla tych, którzy chcieliby zbudować swój własny, domowy cabinet (fliper), pozwala np. w prosty sposób dodawać wodotryski oparte na rozwiązaniach hardwarowych, znanych z salonów rozrywki (migające przyciski i inne wodotryski).
Warto zapoznać się z tym frontendem a przedewszystkim z galerią rozwiązań, w jakich MaLA został zastosowany.
